The communication between the daughterboards and the host bus is established through the motherboard.  Some of the features of the daughterboards include fault management for up to 30 bus devices, updating the I/O controller image continuously, communication with other components in the Genius I/O PLC system, and providing the IBM PC bus optimized RAM. The motherboard comes with a watchdog timer which helps to monitor the system operation in order to shut down the daughterboard if a fault occurs in the host bus system. The board-edge connectors can be used to connect this module with the Genius bus.
